A Popoular Theme

There has been a run of them now.. very popular and no doubt raking in millions of dollars Six in total and over 3billion dollars US at the box office (just $AUD 4.990 billion dolars Besides the visual effects, stunts and fast paced plot.. At the heart of each is the MISSION… yes, always the mission impossible

No matter how improbable and beyond reality the mission of the series of movies.. None of the missions.. all fiction.. compare to the seemingly impossible but VERY REAL mission Jesus set before the disciples, and through them.. the Church…. US. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”( Matthew 28:19–20 (NIV84))

The disciples first up, were to go and establish what has become the Christian Church…. against the most hotile forces (Jewish and Roman) “What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:27–31, NIV84)

As the disciples set about their task They needed to have a BIG HEART for those not yet brought into the family of God

Today as we go about the Great Commission, we need to have as part of our mission DNA, God’s priceless value He places on the saving of even just one lost soul

  • THE INCREDIBLE MISSION
  • JESUS’ PRIORITY FOR THE LOST
  • EATING WORTHILY AT JESUS TABLE

Luke 15:1–10 (NIV84)

1Now the tax collectors and “sinners” were all gathering around to hear him.

2But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

3Then Jesus told them this parable:

4“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders

6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’

7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

8“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?

9And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’

10In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

10In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

31“ ‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.

32But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ ”
