Pastor Geoff van Schie studied at the Reformed Theological College in Geelong from 1974-1977. On graduating he served one year in 1978 as a vicar (practical training year in a local church) with the Christian Reformed Church of St Marys in Sydney, NSW. He was ordained on the 16th of December 1978 as he took up work in his first congregation in Newcastle where he served till the end of 1982.
Since that time he has served congregations in Brisbane (Inala 1983-1989); back to St Marys in Sydney (1989-1998); then on to Perth in Western Australia where he began serving in January 1999. From 1999 to December 2008, he served as the local minister at Perth. From December 2008 to June 30th he served this congregation as its rural and remote communities outreach pastor, based in the Central Wheatbelt town of Wongan Hills (190Kms NE of Perth). When the CRC Perth closed its doors on June 30th 2019, he became an associate pastor of the Willetton Christian Church which currently now serves as the sending Church for the Wheatbelt Christian Fellowship/Gospelair mission.
Since October 2015, he has been conducting the Gospelair mission to remote WA schools, having with his wife, purchased a Cessna 172 and gaining a command instrument rating. Having reached retirement age in December 2018, he by God's grace continues an active ministry doing his four one week visits per term to the schools as well as his fortnightly services at Wongan Hills.
He is married with four children and seven grandchildren
